About the Moor Frog
The moor frog belongs to the true frog family Ranidae. It’s similar to the common frog but its head is more tapered. Like all frogs, it prefers a humid and shady environment with waterways between ponds. It’s easy to recognise in spring since the male turns blue during the mating season. It’s easiest to find at dusk when it’s looking for insects, spiders, and snails. The moor frog overwinters buried in soil but can also spend the winter in water.
