About the Red Squirrel

Red squirrels, easily recognised by their tufted ears and bushy tails, are a woodland favourite. Their fur, which ranges from vivid ginger to dark brown, often develops grey tinges in winter. These agile creatures thrive in forests and parks, feeding on seeds, nuts, fungi and bark. They store food in autumn to survive the colder months. Active all year, they avoid bad weather and enjoy daytime naps. In spring, their playful chases through the trees mark the start of the mating season.
