About the Eurasian Teal
The Eurasian teal’s scientific name is considered sound-imitating and refers to the male’s sound in the spring, “kriick”. Carl von Linné first described this little waterfowl in 1758 in Systema Naturae.
The teal builds its nest in woodland under protective vegetation, often on the ground under a bush near water. They line their nest with dry leaves and down in anticipation of 8 to 11 greenish eggs.
